David Kincaid, our music instructor at Accel, is a professional recording artist and concert musician, a multi-instrumentalist and singer with more than 45 years of professional experience under his belt. He began performing professionally at the age of 17, but his musical training began much earlier – at age of 8 he began on the drums, and at 10 1/2 began playing the guitar, which would soon become his principal instrument. David would eventually take up the mandolin, banjo, bass and piano, and study voice under two different instructors, greatly broadening his musical background and experience. His music career has encompassed two different genres, with most of it playing in rock bands and his current and long-standing band, The Brandos, has enjoyed success both in North America and Europe, having released 11 critically acclaimed commercial albums, along with many international tours. The other part of his career has been in historical Irish music, and he has released 3 albums, also to critical acclaim, under his own name in that style of music.

“Music has been central to my life since I was eight years old, and I’ve found it to be just magical, transcendental and moving; the ultimate form of communication, crossing every kind of frontier and breaking down all barriers. Seeing young people come into their own as a musician is gratifying beyond description. I’m also bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish, as I lived in Mexico City when I was young. This has allowed me to teach Spanish-speaking students several times over the years as well.”

David can offer classes in guitar, bass, drums, voice, mandolin, banjo, beginning to intermediate piano, Irish bodhrán and tin whistle.
